Scuol

Just waiting to be discovered
- A real gem of a resort hidden away in the lower Engadin

The Ski Area 1,250 - 2,785m

One of the lesser known ski resorts in Switzerland, the charming resort of Scuol offers something special where you can avoid long queues with over the 80km of ski pistes and some challenging runs offering good skiing for those wishing mainly intermediate to easy skiing.

Motta Naluns, above the traditional villages of Scuol, Sent and Ftan is something very special. Two cable cars running from Scuol and one chairlift from Ftan take you up to Motta Naluns where there are a further 11 lifts at your disposal to get you into the main skiing area. Many different winter sports possibilities await you, from the most challenging steep gradient ski runs to the gentle slopes leading through larch forests and over meadowlands, exciting mogul slopes and wide open deep snow fields.
The ski and snowboard park offers attractive pistes as well as a permanent ‘boarder cross’. The marvellous 10 km ski piste to Sent is an exceptionally beautiful run and the valley runs to Scuol and Ftan are supported by artificial snow.

Resort Facilities

Airboard
An airboard is a high-tech air mattress, a type of modern plastic sledge filled with air. It is steered by shifting the body weight from one side to the other and breaking is achieved by swinging the board perpendicular to the fall line....
Airboarding is suitable for everyone including those who do not feel particularly athletic.
You can hire this great winter equipment from the mountain lifts at Motta Naluns and they have also prepared a separate trail for airboarders from Prui to Ftan.

Toboggan
In the Lower Engadin every place has its own sledge run with over 33 km of prepared runs. The 4 km run from Prui to Ftan is one of the most well known and drops nearly 400m.

Winter walking
You can enjoy a stroll on some of the 136 km of well marked and prepared winter hiking trails, passing larch trees dusted with snow and walk along the ice-enchanted river Inn, enjoying the unique soothing silence. Every town and village looks after its hiking trails with loving care and most pass by a restaurant to further reward your efforts with an Engadin snack or glass of mulled wine. Worthy of special mention is the panorama mountain trail from Motta Naluns to Prui and Ftan or from Motta Naluns to Sent via Jonvrai.

Cross country skiing
In the Lower Engadin there is a total of 77 km of cross country skiing for all levels, including panorama views, various loops that lead back to the starting point and floodlit runs. Those at Lavin and Susch have a direct connection to the famous Engadin marathon trail.

Snowshoe hikes
The Lower Engadin offers countless possibilities for discovering the wonderful winter landscapes on snowshoes, far away from the lifts and ski pistes and you can enjoy the peace and beauty of nature.
