click here for region details The village of Grindelwald nestles beneath the mighty Eiger whose north face overlooks the main ski area at Kleine Scheidegg. It's the 'end of the road' so there's no through traffic! Grindelwald is a lively place but with a relaxed atmosphere and everything seems geared towards ensuring that the guests enjoy their stay. The village has long been a popular choice with the British although you will hear many different languages as you wander along its bustling main street, lined with shops, cosy stüblis and wooden chalets. As well as the vast ski areas of Scheidegg and Männlichen there are also the sunny slopes of the 'First' area. Walking Over 80km of paths kept open all winter. Take the train up to Kleine Scheidegg and follow the path down to Grund. There is also a path from Männlichen to Scheidegg and First - Waldspitz - Bort for the more active walker. Details and map are available from the hotel reception desk. A non-skiers lift pass is available. Ski Bus Free ski bus linking hotels with the Kleine Scheidegg railway, Männlichen and First stations. Very frequent service and skis can be taken on the bus.
